The goal of the SSVF program is to promote housing stability among very low-income Veterans and their families. This includes individuals and families who are either homeless, in housing crisis or at imminent risk of losing housing. We provide this assistance through various supportive and financial services.
Sponsored by a grant from the Veterans Administration (VA), SSVF provides financial assistance and case management with the objective of helping our country’s veterans achieve housing stability. Our mission is to help the VA reach their target of ending veteran homelessness and provide support for veterans or family members who need it.
If you or someone you know is a veteran – who does NOT have a dishonorable discharge or a Bad Conduct discharge under General Court Martial – who earns less than a certain percentage of the Area Median Income and is in danger of losing housing or looking to gain housing, please call us at (541) 383-2793 or come to the COVO business office Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once a referral has been received a Case Manager will contact you. If you don’t have a phone or email, please come to our office. After meeting with a Case Manager, your needs and situation will be assessed to create a plan that will connect you to the right resources to help you find and maintain housing. Eligibility criteria based upon VA guidelines applies to all veterans referred to SSVF and final eligibility for enrollment is determined on a case-by-case basis.
We also partner with the Housing and Urban Development and VA Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH), providing housing vouchers and case management for eligible homeless Veterans. The HUD-VASH team holds a walk-in clinic each Wednesday morning at the Bend VA Clinic, 2650 Northeast Courtney Drive Bend, OR 97701-7639. The HUD-VASH team can be reached at 541-550-5468 for more information.
If you are a homeless veteran in crisis please call 1-800-273-8255 for immediate assistance from a trained VA operator.
If you have items that you would like to donate, bring them to the Outreach Program from 9a – 3:45p, Monday through Friday. Drive up, and as you face the COVO building, the Outreach Center is to the far right (East end) of the building. There are a set of double doors facing East with a sign saying OUTREACH. Just open the door and walk in. If you need assistance from your car, feel free to ask.
Unfortunately, we are generally not able to pickup donation items, although we suggest you give us a call, as we might be able to refer you to other Veteran resources that can.
It probably goes without saying, but we’ll say it: We ask that items be clean and in good repair.
